The Rotary Club of Ilkley [RCOI] has recently awarded a grant of £10,000 to the Wharfedale Scouts Reva Project.

Reva Scouts Water Activity Centre, close the village of Hawkesworth, has been used by the Wharfedale Scouts as a sailing centre since the 1970s. The Clubhouse and launching facilities are now in serious need of refurbishment and bringing up to modern standards.

A spokesperson for RCOI said:

“We were given a presentation by Dominic Dobson and Lisa Nutton, both senior members of the Wharfedale Scouts and were greatly impressed by the scheme.

“It fulfils one of the Rotary Movements main aims of ensuring that all young people are able to fulfil their hopes and dreams and achieve their full potential.”

Work is underway at Reva Scouts Water Activity Centre

The Reva Committee said:

“We would like to extend its utmost gratitude to the Rotary Club of Ilkley for their extremely generous donation of £10,000 towards the upgrade and refurbishment of the Clubhouse at Reva Scouts Water Activity Centre.

“This money is going directly towards improving the overall experience of the 1000 young people who visit Reva each year who come to enjoy participating in adventurous water activities in a safe and welcoming environment.

“To mark our appreciation, we plan to mount a plaque in the Clubhouse with a list of all the donors who have contributed in various ways to the success of this project, and so the Rotary Club of Ilkley will be proudly recorded for everyone to acknowledge and to remember in the years to come.”

The official opening of the refurbished clubhouse is planned for Spring 2025.
