Staff from Ilkley-based specialist Internet Service Provider Talk Straight took on the famously difficult obstacle course 'Tough Mudder' at Broughton Hall outside Skipton last month all in aid of Leeds charity Zarach.
From Talk Straight; John Standhaven, Eshwesh Gehlot and Victor Josi took on the 5km course, and were joined by Cameron Ellis, Jack Grayson and Nick Brown of sister company Trust IT who bravely tackled the 15km.
After hours of running over challenging terrain and tackling obstacles such as Electroshock Therapy, Ladder to Hell and Mud Mile, the team crossed the finishing line muddy and exhausted but smiling knowing they had raised £1195 for a worthy cause.
Founded by Deputy Headteacher Bex Wilson, Zarach partners with schools to “give every head a bed”. Zarach works with schools to identify children living in bed poverty, and delivers bed bundles including new beds, bedding, pyjamas and hygiene products.
Talk Straight CEO David Tindall said, “As a company that puts safeguarding at the heart of everything we do, this is a cause we at Talk Straight feel very strongly about, so we’re pledging to raise £3,000 for Zarach – enough to provide 20 children with a new bed. As of 2018, there were over 400,000 children in the UK without a bed. By teaming up with Zarach, we hope to contribute to making Leeds the first bed poverty free city.”
