Survey asks for views on Ilkley's Riverside parks and playground

The Ilkley Playground Project is back and is calling for the community to share their thoughts on what the future playground should look like as well as broader views on the Riverside Parks area.

A comprehensive online survey has been developed and is being shared through local media and community groups.

A newly formed committee chaired by Nicola Holmes, owner of local events & photography company Soul & Co, is working closely with Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks to research and investigate aspects such as user frequency and behavior and desired play equipment.

Nicola says: “before moving ahead with any plans or fundraising we want to engage the community and work with them to design a playground that is fit for purpose and is accessible for all ages and abilities.”

The Ilkley playground and the Riverside Parks are widely used by the Ilkley community. During lockdown there has been reporting of a poor state of repair of many pieces of play equipment and it is clear that a total overhaul is required. The playground is a focus point for visitors to the Parks and we want to ensure the experience is as enjoyable and positive as possible.

Kyle Green, District Councilor for Ilkley and Ben Rhydding added: “since my election I have been banging the drum for better investment by Bradford Council in Ilkley, including asking for support to help make the Riverside park area somewhere residents and visitors can come and enjoy responsibly. I have been delighted to work on this survey with the excellent volunteers who I am working hard with to help ensure both the park areas and playground are invested in adequately by Bradford Council, as well as making sure that residents' views are listened to."
