Station Plaza raised planters’ plans refused

Bradford Council planners have refused plans for three planters with a drystone wall outside the Station Plaza on Station Road in Ilkley.

A planning application was submitted in February by Tom Livesley. of Tel Landscape Architects, who is acting as agent for the development.

Refusing the plans, the council said: ‘The raised walls to the 3 planted beds would form clutter in front of the grade listed Ilkley Station building, and the proposed dry stone wall construction has no relevance, in architectural terms, to the buildings behind the proposed beds’

They also raised concerns the impact the works would have on the 12 rowan and cherry trees within the planted beds.

Back in June 2019, Ilkley resident, Roger Yaxley, issued a call to arms work started shortly after, but was halted by council enforcement officers in September as planning hadn’t been obtained.

The plans and full reasons for refusal can be viewed on the council planning portal online at planning.bradford.gov.uk Ref: 20/00043/FUL
