New contemporary art gallery to open in Ilkley

Joanne Tinker is opening her new Ilkley gallery at Easter

This Easter, a new contemporary art gallery and studio – established by artist Joanne Tinker – will open to the public in Ilkley’s emerging artistic quarter, close to the Manor House.

Tinker Gallery will open with Joanne’s own inimitable and colourful art, celebrating the things you and I would normally throw away. Her work is already represented by five leading UK galleries. She also sells internationally and has pieces in private collections, plus in the Museum of Art & Design, New York; the Science Museum, London; and the White Rabbit Collection, Sydney.

The Tinker Gallery welcomes visitors to view not only Joanne’s art and her working studio, but – from later this Spring – she will be showcasing other talented, contemporary artists covering a rich and varied use of materials and subject matter.

“I am delighted to finally be able to fulfil my lifelong dream of opening a gallery. And what better place than historic spa town Ilkley – my home. I look forward to welcoming you,” says Joanne.

Sarah Thomas, Chair of Ilkley Arts and Ilkley Manor House commented “The cultural and historic quarter around the Manor House will definitely be enhanced by the opening of the Tinker Gallery. Joanne has been a tenant of the Manor House for several years running her studio and we are thrilled that she is now taking this step to open her own gallery. The Manor House will benefit from the footfall that her wonderful work will generate, and we wish the Tinker Gallery every possible success.’

The Tinker Gallery is an exciting opportunity for you to discover and celebrate contemporary art and culture in Yorkshire and opens Friday 15th April, at 25 Church Street, Ilkley, LS29 9DR, opposite The Art Shop.

The gallery will be open to the public Thursday - Saturday from 10am to 5pm and by appointment only on other days, please call 07949 227312.
