Ilkley’s MP Robbie Moore has paid tribute to Litter Free Ilkley following their first anniversary of regular community litter picks.
On Sunday, the group marked 12 months of meeting monthly to keep the town and moorlands clean and tidy, with this weekend’s Halloween-themed event gathering 21 bags of litter.
The community effort has been spearheaded by Vivienne Boey, with the group clearing an impressive 200 bags in 12 months.
The event brought together volunteers from the group, including Barney Street, who has collected the most litter over the past year.
‘Litter Free Ilkley’ meets on the last Sunday of each month at 11am near the Bandstand, adjacent to The Grove. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join in.

Speaking about the group’s achievement, Robbie Moore MP said: “It was fantastic to celebrate the one-year anniversary of ‘Litter Free Ilkley’ and to join such an incredible community effort. A huge thank you to Vivienne Boey for organising, and to all the dedicated volunteers who turn up month after month to make a real difference.
This weekend’s litter pick was a little different with a fun Halloween theme, complete with Amanda Liberty’s hand-turned organ. A special thanks also to Buzz Coffee for providing the raffle prize and a huge, huge well done to volunteer Barney Street for collecting the most litter over the past year.
