The Ilkley Macmillan Fashion Show 2022 returned earlier this month at The Craiglands Hotel, the event is the highlight of Macmillan’s fundraising events in Ilkley.

A new committee led by Rachel Peru and Jo Rusden organised the show taking over after the retirement of the long-standing Ilkley Macmillan Fashion show committee who over the years have raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Yorkshire Macmillan charity.

150 guests joined the evening for a 2-course supper and a fabulous fashion show, including men’s and women’s Autumn fashion showcasing independent retailers, hosted by Andrew Dobson and Rachel Peru. Guests also enjoyed some shopping time before the show with an array of independent stall holders including cookies, jewellery, women’s fashion, and lots of Christmas gift inspiration.

Rachel said: "It was a huge success and a joy to have back after its absence over the last few years.

"We are delighted to have raised a whopping £8146.68 and would like to thank everyone involved for their support, all the model volunteers, 39 in total, who brimmed with confidence down the catwalk and helped make it a very special evening. Thank you to all the retailers; The Shoe Company, Fig & Willow, Attic Boutique, Time and Time Again, Phase Eight, Boutique Ole, Pre Loved Ilkley, The Fitting Room and Joshua Adams.

"Whilst we were all very excited to be back having fun it’s also important to remember why we support such a crucial and much needed charity. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. Committee member Julie Gilbert gave a heartfelt speech of her own families experience with cancer after sadly losing her son Luke, who was a well-loved model in the show, to cancer in August 2016, which was hugely appreciated and respected by everyone in the room."

The new committee are looking forward on building this success and are already excited to announce next year’s date for your diary Thursday 12th October 2023.
