Ilkley Rugby Club takes major step toward sustainability

Ilkley Rugby Club clubhouse with new P4 Solar panels

Ilkley Rugby Club has announce a new and exciting development in its commitment to sustainability by installing state-of-the-art solar panels on the Clubhouse at Stacks Field.

Thanks to a partnership with Keighley based renewable energy experts, P4 Solar, the new solar panels will generate clean energy to power the club’s facilities, drastically reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering overall emissions.

This initiative marks a significant step toward reducing their carbon footprint and embracing a greener future for both the club and the wider community.

John Barwick, President of Ilkley Rugby Club, shared his enthusiasm for the project:

"At Ilkley Rugby Club, we are dedicated to not only fostering talent and community spirit but also making decisions that positively impact our environment. The installation of solar panels is a major step in our journey toward sustainability. By partnering with P4 Solar, a trusted local company, we are able to power our facilities in a more eco-friendly way while also supporting a fellow local business. It’s a great opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable energy within the local sports community and we're excited about our partnership with P4 Solar."

P4 Solar designed and installed the solar panel system to meet the energy demands of the club while ensuring maximum efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Their involvement with Ilkley Rugby Club underscores the importance of local businesses working together to create a greener future.

Freddie Maddocks, Operations Manager at P4 Solar, added:

"We are thrilled to partner with Ilkley Rugby Club on this project, and to see the club take such a proactive stance in adopting renewable energy. As a local business, we understand the importance of working with community organisations like IRFC, not just to promote sustainable solutions but also to show that change starts at home. By installing solar panels, the club is leading by example and showing that every organisation, large or small, can play a part in reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment."

The installation of these solar panels is part of Ilkley Rugby Club’s wider efforts to promote sustainability and strengthen our ties with the local community.

Ilkley Rugby Club says it hopes this initiative will inspire other clubs and organisations to follow suit and explore ways to reduce their environmental impact, making our community a better place for future generations.
