Evie, aged 8, of Sacred Heart Primary School in Ilkley has been crowned the winner of Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore’s 2023 Christmas Card Competition after hundreds of votes were cast by residents across the constituency.
The local MP received hundreds of entries from primary schools across the Keighley, Ilkley, Craven and Worth Valley areas, which were whittled down to nine finalists and put to a public vote.
Following a close competition, Evie from Sacred Heart Primary School was crowned the winner, with the design being shown to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who signed the card and left a congratulatory note for Evie.
The card will feature on the front of Mr Moore’s 2023 Christmas card, which will be sent to hundreds of individuals and businesses across Keighley and Ilkley, as well as fellow MPs.
The local MP presented Evie with a copy of the winning card signed by the Prime Minister and a House of Commons Speaker’s teddy bear to congratulate her on the achievement.
Orla, aged 7 of Riddlesden, Mia, aged 11 of Silsden Primary School, and Maya, aged 8 of Merlin Top Primary School, were also named runners-up.
Robbie Moore MP said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the hundreds to local schoolchildren who took part in my Christmas card competition this year. The colour and creativity on display was fantastic and I’d like to congratulate Evie on her brilliant design, which depicts the iconic Cow and Calf rocks with Santa and his reindeer flying overhead!
"I was delighted to show Evie's design to the Prime Minister in Parliament -- and hundreds of residents, businesses and MPs will now be receiving my 2023 card with Evie's design on it! Well done to all involved and Merry Christmas.”
