Members of the Ilkley Harriers will be lacing up their running shoes to take part in an annual fundraising event in support of Sue Ryder Manorlands.
The Keighley 10k and 5k on Mother’s Day, 10 March, will include a sizeable contingent from Ilkley Harriers and the hospice is inviting people from the Ilkley area to join in.
Ilkley MP Robbie Moore is also urging people to sign up, he told Ilkley Chat: “I’d urge everyone to get involved in the Keighley 10k and 5k this Mother’s Day, which promises to be a fantastic event for an exceptional cause.
“I’ve seen first hand the positive difference Sue Ryder Manorlands are making for people with life-limiting conditions across our area, and this is your chance to contribute to the vital work that they do.
“5k and 10k might sound like a stretch, but you don’t actually have to run it - you can always walk the stunning route with friends!”
Starting outside Victoria Hall, both routes follow a circular path alongside the Leeds-Liverpool canal and East Riddlesden Hall, with the 10k route also including a section through Keighley Golf Club.
All participants will receive a bespoke Keighley 10k and 5k t-shirt as a token of appreciation for their support, with the funds raised going to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, who provide expert end-of-life care, advice, and support to local people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.
Ilkley Harriers said "We welcome runners of all abilities and running interests and we provide training and group runs as well as social events for members. We are delighted that so many Harriers are taking part in the Keighley 10k and 5k. which raises money for such a good cause."
