Ilkley car park to be resurfaced in July

Bradford Council is to resurface Ilkley’s South Hawksworth Street car park in July.

The new surface will complete an upgrade which has included new energy efficient street lighting and an electric vehicle charging point.

Subject to weather conditions, the resurfacing is planned for 20 July and will be carried out in two halves.

The council will keep fifty per cent of the car park open during the works and signs will direct visitors to available spaces.

All going well, the work will be completed by 31 July.

The recycling centre on the site will be closed so the council is asking Ilkley residents to use their grey recycle bins or visit the council’s household waste recycling centre on Golden Butts Road.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We are very pleased to be upgrading this car park in the centre of Ilkley.

“Resurfacing will tidy things up and the improved facility will be greener with new energy efficient lighting and electric charging points.”
