The Ilkley Active Travel Hub (IATH) has lots of new services on offer including free adult cycling lessons
In partnership with Capital of Cycling, the adult cycling lessons are for anyone who wants to learn to ride for the first time or get back on a bike having not cycled in years. The sessions are free and an adult bike will be provided for the lesson duration. Lessons are available to anyone aged 16 up.
They will start on Sunday 3rd March at 2pm and take place at Ilkley Rugby Club. If you or anyone you know are interested, all you need to do is sign-up via this link: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/first-time-riders-and-traffic-free-riding-at-ilkley-rugby-club-tickets-838590766557
IATH have also set up a friendly Couch to 5K running group, it's for anyone who has always wanted to try Couch to 5k, but perhaps needs a little motivation from others. Following the first successful event last week, the next session will be on Friday 1st March at 10am, no need to book, meet in the Riverside Gardens by the memorial.
Hayley from IATH said: As well as those new services, we are now running weekly drop-in sessions. If you want help finding a walking or cycling activity for you, come and have a chat with me for 1-2-1 tailor-made advice and to see what services we provide.
“The sessions take place every Wednesday, 1pm-3:30pm at the Ilkley Thingery. No need to book, just come along and have a cuppa with me (free biscuits too!).”
Lastly, after the great success of the January Beginner's Walk Club, the next one will be taking place on Friday 23rd February at 9:30am, starting at the Alpkit store. They will be on the last Friday of every month. It's a super friendly group and the walks are at an easy pace and end with tea and cake back at Alpkit.
