Wright Theatre Arts (WTA) based in Ilkley, is making a documentary about their recent production of the classic story, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”.

This intimate behind-the-scenes launched last month on Indiegogo, via a crowdfunding campaign.

The documentary “Farewell In Footsteps” chronicles the journey of Lois and Dulcie Bagnall, twin sisters who have graced the WTA stage since the tender age of two. Now, at 18, they embody the spirit of the WTA community as they portray Aslan, the noble lion, and the cunning White Witch, respectively.  This is their final performance with the school.

For many years, Wright Theatre Arts has nurtured a love for dance and performance in aspiring dancers of all ages. Their commitment to fostering a supportive and enthusiastic environment is evident throughout the film. “Farewell In Footsteps” delves into this spirit, showcasing the tireless efforts of all its members, from the youngest dancers taking their first steps on stage to seasoned performers. Witness the magic unfold as a cast of over 100 dancers, aged 3 to 60, collaborate to bring the show to life.

Silsden based Dawn Feather, of Yorkshire Edit, is at the helm of this heartwarming documentary. Celebrated for her dedication to amplifying Northern voices and grassroots stories, Dawn brings her expertise in post-production and storytelling to the table. She says “This documentary isn't just about the magic of dance” she explains. “It dives into the power dance has on young people's mental and physical health. Especially in a post-Covid world, that's what resonated with me while making this film.”  Through Dawn's unique perspective and passion for the arts, this film promises a captivating exploration of artistic expression and its power to build a thriving community.

The Indiegogo campaign seeks to raise £2500 to complete the documentary's post-production phase, ensuring the story is presented with the utmost quality. By contributing to the campaign, you become part of this artistic journey and gain access to exclusive perks, including early access to the documentary, behind-the-scenes footage, and other unique rewards.
