Olicana Bridge Club are offering free starter lessons for anyone interested in playing Bridge.
The Ilkley club is very active for social and competitive bridge play with a growing membership of over 350 of all ages and has continued online during lockdown using Zoom.
Tony Watson, chair of Olicana Bridge Club told Ilkley Chat: “Olicana Bridge Club in Ilkley has grown significantly in recent years and prior to the various lockdowns had become one of the most popular clubs in Yorkshire.
“We believe strongly in helping others to learn the brilliant game of bridge and in recent years have had around 50 individuals learning to play each year at our club in the centre of Ilkley but this had to stop with the various lockdowns.
“Lockdown also meant we had to move our regular bridge sessions online and we now have a bridge session every weekday across different bridge platforms which are proving very popular. On Real Bridge, for example, you can see and talk to the other three players at your table as well as play bridge! Bridge is a game for all ages and really helps you retain mental sharpness.”
Tony added: “We are delighted to offer 10 free starter lessons on line to learn bridge. No previous experience is necessary. The lessons will be supported by on line practice play aided by experienced bridge teachers from our Club.”
