British Concert Pianist Yuanfan Yang is to perform at the King's Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley on Thursday 27 april.
The recital of Early and Late Romantic repertoire is the first in a series dedicated to the memory of Dame Fanny Waterman (1920 - 2020) Co-Founder of the Leeds International Piano Competition who spent the last months of her life as a resident in Ilkley.
A spokesperson for organisers The Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts said: "Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of the young stars of the British Concert Platform who plays to great acclaim on many of the great International stages. Delighted to accept the role as Piano Ambassador to the Wharfedale Festival of Piano, Yuanfan is relishing the opportunity to play back in his home of Yorkshire.
"Two young pianists , Coco Shi and Tommy Sun, who were recipients of the Waterman Junior Gold Medal and Cavendish Trophy at the 2022 festival, will feature in his recital. As part of their awards they were given the opportunity to play for Yuanfan in a public masterclass earlier in March."
Ilkley piano teacher Simon Ravens said “ This was a great experience for Coco. She’s only 13 and working with a young concert pianist like Yuanfan was an inspiration”.
