We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and now there’s an added reason to share it with friends and colleagues – helping to raise funds for disadvantaged young women.
Ilkley women are invited to attend a Brilliant Breakfast on Saturday 24 May, from 8.30am to 11.00am at All Saints’ church hall in Ilkley. The social event, supported by the King’s Trust, will raise funds to help young women create better working lives for themselves.
Rise and Shine Ilkley’s Brilliant Breakfast is organised by Alison Smith, Emma Gannon and Vickie Kemp. Alison said:
“Bring your friends, colleagues and daughters to share a delicious breakfast and convivial atmosphere while making a difference to the next generation of young women.”
The Brilliant Breakfast is a nationwide event organised by the King’s Trust to raise funds to help young women access training, job opportunities and career support. Its work also funds grants to cover the costs of work clothes, childcare, equipment or even a young woman’s commute to work before her first pay cheque – essential for disadvantaged or out of work young women.
Girls like Shannon who struggled as a young mum to secure her dream role. After thriving on the King’s Trust Get into Healthcare programme, Shannon successfully acquired a job as a Healthcare Support Worker and is building the future she’s always dreamed of. Or Carissa who experienced a severe mental health breakdown and was hospitalised. As she began to rebuild her life from scratch, Carissa realised that if she wanted to live the life she dreamt of, she needed to start her own business. With help from the King’s Fund Enterprise programme Carissa is now a body transformation coach and founder of online coaching programme, Keep Me Curvy.

Alison added:
“We hope Ilkley women will join us at All Saints’ Church on the morning of Saturday 24 May to help raise funds for young women like Shannon and Carissa.
“It’s a great opportunity to come together, enjoy a delicious breakfast and raise funds to help disadvantaged young women gain new opportunities and build better lives for themselves.
“We’re asking for donations of £15 for breakfast which could, for example, contribute towards essential course materials for an aspiring young female entrepreneur. Of course, everyone is welcome to donate as much as they can. Drop into All Saints’ Church Hall between 8.30am and 11.00am – we’d love to see you.”
